Hi everyone, my name is Emily. I am married to Adam, and we have two amazing kiddos. Kash is six, and Briella is ten months. We reside in Indiana. We have two dogs; one is named Zoey; she is our nine-year-old boxer/Boston terrier mix, and then there is Sparta. She is a labradoodle and is a trained autism therapy dog for our son Kash.
I am the author of Mama to Kash's Voice, and I started this blog to share our journey through the ups and downs of autism. I wanted to help other families going through this journey. I wanted to be a resource to families that would need help with navigating through this challenging journey. When Kash was diagnosed three years ago, I was thrown into the autism world. I had no idea where to start. I had to spend many nights researching for doctors, specialists, resources, insurances, etc., to provide the best quality care for my son.
I am currently on my last semester to complete my master's degree in special education, emphasizing autism, and emotional and behavioral disorders. I will graduate in May 2021! I also have a Bachelor's in Applied Behavior Analysis. After graduation, I plan to work as a behavior specialist with the Medicaid Waiver. My future endeavors also include setting up a training program for first responders in our area on how to help individuals with autism.
I am very passionate about advocating for my son with special needs and other individuals as well. My work has been published in Autism Parenting Magazine, Scary Mommy, Finding Cooper's Voice, Her View from Home, and His View from Home.
